Meeting cum materials-sourcing .

Location : Coffeeshop opposite school then to Marsiling Industrial Area.
Date & Time : 6th November, 5pm onwards.

The team went to source for materials after school ended.
Met up at the coffee shop for a short discussion then off we head to Marsiling Industrial area to look for 'junks' which could be deemed as treasures to us.

Heaps of wooden planks and discarded furnitures.

Ideal table, we're looking for something like that, unfortunately this table belongs to one of the warehouse.

Heading inside the warehouse, cheap but old furniture could be bought at a cheap price.

The area.

Found something outside the warehouse, and after asking for permission, the nice owner gave it to us, for free! :D
A little too dusty though.

Thankyou. These 'chair/stool-lookalike' are now resting at Tosh's house.

Roaming around.

This is the kind of door we might be using for our installation.
We have to figure out how to actually attached a door to the walls we're going to use.

Doors with 'artistic' feel.

More stuffs..

Look what we've found! A very old hawker center as well as toilets!
You can't really see places like that commonly these days.
And the Nasi Padang served there is not bad as well, a rather satisfying dinner after long walks in the area.

More pictures...

Bed mattresses, chairs, gates etc..

The sun is setting.

WAREHOUSE SALE!

We might be buying the both chairs (pink&purple) as we did managed to bargain for a good price already.

Happy people.

Taking a break after exploring the 3-storey warehouse.

Heading back to collect the 'chair/stool-lookalike' ..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a fruitful day, knowing that we can get most items we need nearby our school, and without burning big holes in our pockets.

We are definitely going back there again for more treasure-hunting.

Now, who says meetings are always about discussions and no fun at all? :)

Meeting 3 With Wai Leng.

Location : E33A (Location of installation)
Date & Time : 6th November, 1 PM to 1.30 PM

Our space!

We were supposed to meet up with OES personnel Anas on this day but unfortunately, he did not turn up. During this meeting we discussed about equipments we would be borrowing from the school for the construction of our installation and whether or not we could stay overnight at the premises to work on our project.

INVENTORY LIST
1 - 16 Walls ( Will be emailing Zul about it ASAP)
2 - Ladder (2 Metres)
3 - Trolley (For transportation of items such as the walls to E33A)

Other required items such as tables, chairs and bed would be sourced and supplied by the team.

We also raised the idea of staying overnight at E33A during set-up so as to ensure that we are making full use of the time we have to work on our project. Permission would be have to requested and granted by OES and the relevant personnel such as RP security would have to be informed in advanced.

If permission were to be granted for overnight stay, we would also have to request that the air-conditioning be left on for a better and more productive working environment. and not forgetting having the access card to the premise.

Meeting Minutes

Location : National Library.
Date & Time : 28th October, 6pm to 10pm
Issues Discussed : Re-Conceptualisation of Project, Roles & Responsibilities, Publicity, Aids for Viewers, Fund-Raising, Floor Plan

Today's meeting was crucial such that it changed the direction in which the team would be going in. Instead of creating an avant-garde piece, we would be doing a piece inspired by the avant-garde genre. This means we would be adapting and using certain art techniques of the avant-garde genre to aid us in the creation and completion of our work. Discussion today also touched on the various projects within our work.

We have also revised and re-distributed roles and responsibilities within the team. Each member would be given a sector in which he or she is in-charge of. The leader(s) of each sector would be responsible for tasks such as scripting and conceptualising before working together with the rest of the team to realise that idea.

Ben - Visual Art sector (Drawings, Paintings etc.)
Janice - Blog, Visual Art sector (Photography)
Carrick - Film (Pre, Pro & Post)
Tosh - Blog, Film (Pre, Pro & Post)
Douglas - Sound (Recording, Mixing, Cutting etc.)

Publicity would be required for our project and how are we going to go about doing it has yet to be decided. This issue would be touched on again in future.

We also discussed whether or not a guide, in the form of a booklet or piece of paper, should be provided for viewers so as to aid them in better understanding what is our exhibition about as well as knowing what to do when they enter our 'room'. Below are some ideas shared.

- Pasting guidelines at each exhibit in the room.
- Printing a guidebook/flyer.
- Putting up a poster beside the entrance of the room.

We might be embarking on a fund-raising expedition for our project as the budget seems to be increasing over time. This would be decided on within the next week or so as we continue sourcing for items needed.

Floor plan of our installation.

Sungei Road to look for possible materials we could use for our project. Bought a radio for 2 dollars!

@ ArtFriend to check the prices of canvases.

Hardworking people!

Supper @ Rochor's beancurd, yummy!

The next team meeting is scheduled to be on November 6th 2008.

5 WEEKS TO GO!

Team Meeting Minutes

Location : Coffee Shop opposite RP
Date & Time : 10th October, 5.15pm - 7pm

During the meeting, the team has further developed on our concept (read below), discussing what is going to go into the room as well as considering the factors that might affect us in setting up our project. ( such as how and what are we going to use to build a room )

We also came up with the storyline and background info. about the artist.

Location of installation.
The space at E3. (tentatively)

Concept.
Merging the 5 different minds of us into a single mind of an artist.
The team will built a room belonging to this artist.
Inside the room will consist of 9 different works of his, and which the last one would be unfinished on purpose, of course.
His works would consist of film, sounds as well as visuals.

Background info. of artists.
He is a loner living in his own world and his only focus in life is art.
His style of works are mostly experimental and he is constantly trying everything different.
In his works, there are hints of him leaving and eventually the last piece of work would be deliberately left unfinished to let the audience know that he has left.

As for where he went, that would be left a mystery.

The team has came up with certain ideas on what is going to go into the room and therefore each of us will come up with different works of our own and then coming together to put everything in place.

Guys do edit/change where ever you all would like.
See you all next week.

Till then, Janice.

Meeting1 - 190908

Blog is up. (:

Met up with our supervisor for the first time.
Discussed our concept and realised that concept was not strong enough and we have yet to identify a main purpose for our work.

Therefore, we have to now finalize a solid idea and concept as well as knowing the purpose for our art work.

Whether to stick with original plan or come up with something brand new is something we're gonna decide next.
