Write-Up

Below is the write-up placed outside the installation for viewers to read before entering the room.

"UPN9 tells the story of an artist that goes by the alias of Bohemian. He neither acknowledges nor regards himself as a person but rather an entity whose sole purpose of existence is to express artistically. There are many sides to him, so much that he thinks of himself as indefinable. But the very fact that he’s indefinable equates to a definition ironically.

Growing up, he was constantly taught by his family to conform to social and cultural norms, to be the best that he can be in the eyes of society - educated, respected, well-mannered and what not. He did as he was told and achieved much, which made his parents and peers very proud and envious of him. Despite having such a strict upbringing, he constantly questions and challenges authority, popular truths and conventional ways of artistic expression.

On his 18th birthday, he ran away from home in search of a new life and eventually came to a conclusion - He would rent a room and have it be the physical representation and house of his creative intelligence. Hence he embarked on the never-ending journey of self-expression until one fateful day, he disappeared.

Nobody knows when, where and how. Some say he went back to the future, some say he went forward to the past.

All that is left of Bohemian is this room.

Enter,

and experience."
